Review of A Dangerous Method (2011) by Tom H — 03 Jul 2012
I expected more. Though Ms Knightly is aptly hysterical, most of the cast's acting is ponderous and wooden. There is an inexplicable weight baring down on this film that blocks the surfacing of the libido which is at the heart of the characters' behavior and of modern psychoanalysis.
The characters become theatrical placeholders devoid of any life. The historical material is far more interesting and certainly filled with more life than in this film. Some great opportunities were missed here.
