Review of A Dangerous Method (2011) by Cristian B — 22 Sep 2018
Though the pacing drags at times, thanks to excellent performances and a smartly written script, the movie is thought-provoking and intriguing. Director Cronenberg displays unusual restraint in the sexual politics of the story.
He effectively displays the roiling passions that lie underneath the characters. This dynamic creates an interesting power play in the early days of psychoanalysis. Knightley, Mortensen, and Fassbender deliver strong performances, which bring these early pioneers to life.
A provocative and highly engrossing drama.
