Review of A Brighter Summer Day (1991) by Him C — 11 Apr 2009
Although I did not watch very many Chinese films, I am still sure this one must be in the top 10 list.
The film successfully and appropriately express the mood of "helplessness of the 1960's Taiwanese". Even though the film length is 4 hours, I am not aware that I 've kept sitting for that long. I was really into the film.
You should watch it to feel that magic. I just begin to love the Edward Yang's movies onwards.
