Review of A Brighter Summer Day (1991) by Renato M — 01 Mar 2010
This should be in any list of the best films ever made. Beautiful, poignant, restless - Yang's 4-hour epic is a heartbreaking cross-generational tale of hopelessness and moral downfall. A powerful social commentary of 1960's Taiwan and the ever present impact of cultural norms.
