Review of A Brighter Summer Day (1991) by Kaho W — 13 Feb 2008
Second time viewing. Love it even more. Love how the course of Taiwan in search of its identity adn its future is projected. Love how elaborate the story and the characters are. Love how medium and full shots are employed to convey the blurred identity.
It takes a really ambitious and talented director to make an epic of such grandeur.
