Review of A Bigger Splash (2015) by John K — 29 May 2016
Swinton and Fiennes steal the show here as their characters and performances are juxtaposed beautifully. Unable to speak from a recent surgery, Swinton conveys much with only visual, unspoken emotion as she embodies domestication.
Meanwhile, Fiennes is a fire-cracker of obscenity in every scene, her polar opposite. The film is carried by these performances until the third act, as Fiennes disappears from the film and, with him, any sense of momentum or interest.
