Review of 976-EVIL (1988) by Scott A — 23 Aug 2013
I'm still unsure about this one, as it was never boring, but it was also, story wise, a complete mess. I think we needed more time with the investigator or with Geoffreys turning evil, as that seemed to just happen in a snap.
The effects looked fine, even the cheesy ones, and the makeup looks great. The movie theater scenes with all the posters was kind of a fun bit, especially the Fright Night nod.
Just loved Lezlie Deane here, she is both adorable and sexy.
I think my biggest issue was I didn't quite understand how this evil was even happening. Like with the phone and how it would pick or haunt victims. There didn't seem to be any logic to how it worked, as the four people or so that have called the number, all have different results.
And it lacks some major character development. I didn't feel I cared about many of the cast.
