Review of 88 Minutes (2007) by Carlos H — 13 Jan 2011
Crime/thriller starring Al Pacino as Jack Gramm, a forensic psychiatrist that receives a phone call saying that he has 88 minutes to live while one serial killer he has helped to put in jail is trying to get out of death row.
His lover and a friend are killed, his apartment is set on fire, his car explodes, he is shot plus he receives some some more death threats over the telelephone; all this in one and half hours. Something is gotta give. Likeliness is damaged as the story develops, there are several contradictions in the script and the twist is just not impressive enough. You get confused by the storyline, most people wouldn't react the way they do in this movie. It is a shame, I think the original idea was good and without the mistakes it would have made a decent thriller unfortunately it all goes down the hill as time goes by. The end is very deflating, even childish, as it seems the killer has had time enough to get the hair done while killing and torturing people around town.
