Review of 8 Mile (2002) by Jordan C — 20 Oct 2012
Eminem is the best non actor actor Iv'e ever seen. Usually when musicians or athletes decide to act, or change sports, or start making music, or flip flop on what they do, it ends in disasters. Eminems success at selling this story and character is probably that he is essentially playing a character that is almost the same as himself.
It is incredibly moving and really entertaining, and original (There is a lot of movies about what rock stars, or attempted rock stars have gone through in order too achieve their goals, but this is one of the few in the hip hop universe, and probably the only good one, or at least to my knowledge).
Eminem is a very talented musician and this film proves he's a talented actor too, though I respect the fact that he didn't get all crazed for acting after this film and try to become an actor by career which even adds to the why the movie feels so real.
Whoever thought a rap battle could be so climatic and leave you on the edge of your seat for so long.
