Review of 7 Women (1965) by Alan W — 13 Apr 2018
The tension between two strong female leads, Leighton's pious missionary and Bancroft's worldly doctor, promises a lot, but unfortunately Ford blows it in the second half as the arrival of the rebel forces shifts the focus from the interesting psychological battle to an uninteresting good-v-evil clash with horrible racial stereotyping.
Kudos to Ford for picking such an unlikely subject, but in the end I came away feeling he didn't really know how to handle it.
