Review of 6 Years (2015) by Bethany M — 16 May 2016
It seems to me that a large majority of the reviews for this movie were very negative. Some disliked the girlfriend, some disliked the boyfriend, and some simply disliked the movie in it's entirety. I personally enjoyed this movie, because it reminded me of the only true love story I have ever known.
The movie industry is infamous for the chronic retelling of one basic love story in which the couple lives happily ever after. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Some lovers are star-crossed, their paths only intersecting for a blissful moment before the circumstances of life tears them from one another. Such was the case in this movie.
In other reviews some people speculate as to whom was at fault for the relationship ending. I don't agree with any of these speculations. Rather, it seems some people are just not meant to be together .
At the end of the movie they realize they can no longer be together. They look in to each other's eyes, they feel their youth one last time and they cry because they know they will never feel that again. They drink it in. Every memory. Every dance. Every kiss. Every smile. Every late night laughing at youtube. Every I love you.
And then they say goodbye.
Some love stories are cut short. It wasn't a happily ever after, but it was and always will be a love story.
