Review of 42nd Street (1933) by Kathleen H — 24 Aug 2007
This movie is everything I love about Broadway. Who can resist Ruby Keeler's doe-eyed gazes, her shy demeanour (especially when she goes back to lock the bedroom door), her innocence, and, of course, her go-gett'em tapping? "You're going out there a youngster but you've got to come back a star!" What wide-eyed wantabe doesn't yearn to hear that someday on the Great White Way? One of my biggest regrets is never sending Ruby Keeler a fan letter before she died .
