Review of 42nd Street (1933) by Bill W — 24 Nov 2007
Of the Busbey Berkeley musicals this one may have the most depth. Underneath all the fun and games, songs and dances there is the show's producer dying from an unspecified illness but he still has to produce this show because he has no money.
He doesn't actually die at the end but the last few shots imply that he will soon.
