A grossly involving and extremely infuriating look at an illegal abortion taking place at Communism's twilight in Romania. The film has a feel of a grim reality and Marinca's plight as a helpful friend to a thankless Vasiliu is unnerving and frustrating.
Smarter and sharper than it seems at first, the film attacks your senses quietly yet as if by a blunt instrument.
