Review of 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007) by Cecilie B — 12 Jun 2009
Set in Romania in 1987 - the same year as when I was there myself - this is an incredibly tense story about illegal abortion and friendship between two young women. In a time when abortion was not only a legal offence but could also be mortally dangerous, the brutality, humiliation and lies the two girls have to go through is also a story about a country and an era. The only one they can trust are each other. A terrific film which I will deeply recommend.
Palme d'Or winner in Cannes 2007 and it's easy to see why.
