Review of 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007) by Robert B — 22 Aug 2012
A gritty, troubling film, one of the best I have seen in a while. Set during the half a century that Romania lived under the heel of communist dictator Nicolae Ceasescu. You may recall that he was so beloved by his people that when communism collapsed in Romania, they dragged him into the yard and shot them like mad dogs.
One of the draconian features of his government was to make abortions illegal "so there would be population growth -another generation of good working subjects".
This movie follows two college girls through the dark world of black-marketers and unsavory characters as they arrange for an abortion.
Extraordinarily acted and filmed. No matter your feelings about abotion this is worth seeing.
