Review of 31 (2016) by Aaron H — 02 Sep 2016
I really wanted to like 31, but half way through it I knew I should have gone to see "Don't Breathe". It looked like Rob Zombie was returning to his House of a 1,000 Corpses style, but this didn't come close to that first feature.
I feel his films have been on a downward spiral since the beginning. The clown Doom Head was the ONLY character worth a damn who stole the show... not a very good show to steal in the first place. The biggest bungle of the film is the rich people hosting 31 don't have eyes in the sky or camera monitors (since it is set in the 70s) to view whats going on in the factory during the game so they are really oblivious to seeing the kills.
Granted there is some decent cinematography, but it doesn't make up for the hack acting by a majority of the cast. If only Doom Head had a bigger role and they took more time to build up more character development with the others since most of them were who cares kills.
The ending was lazy too.
