Review of 3-Iron (2004) by Will G — 19 Dec 2007
Wow. This gorgeous, meditative film from Kim Ki-Duk (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring) put us into a delicious trance. The highly visual story follows a young man who, unexplainedly, stays overnight in the homes of people who are away on vacation.
He returns the unwitting favor by doing chores around the house, fixing or mending or doing laundry. One evening he stumbles across a woman in one of these homes, the victim of abuse. He decides to rescue her, and the consequences leave both of them drastically changed.
As with Ki-Duk's other films, this one seems full of metaphorical possibilities. I found a lot of thoughts provoked regarding Christ. Perhaps worth a look.
