Review of 25th Hour (2002) by Adelwyn H — 11 Feb 2010
Strangely, this movie wasn't well known to me before today.
Admittedly, I was very moved by a very powerful, profound, and beautiful story of a man destined for prison - and the moments leading up to his incarceration. This film had a great cast, who delivered their performances almost flawlessly. The dialogue was both engaging and moving - particularly, the soliloquy delivered by Norton in the bathroom, and the narrative told by his father (Cox) in the end of the film. It all really conveyed emotions of doubt, trust, love, regret, uncertainty, and so much more. The story of friendship and personal responsibility also stood out quite well.
It was difficult however, to associate with some of the NY references, but altogether, a memorable, enjoyable, and outstanding film.
