Review of 25th Hour (2002) by Wayne K — 22 Jun 2015
Despite boasting an impressive cast and a handful of stand-out scenes, some funny, some touching, the movie almost entirely fails to live up to it's potential. We can enjoy the moral ambiguity of our 'hero' and the ties he has with friends and family, but with a sluggish pace, thinly-veiled artistic pretentions and no real pay-off, it just feels like a 2+ hour waste of our time.
After a while I got the feeling that the film had just given up entirely on its audience and was serving only itself, and it makes for a very frustrating experience.
