Awesome movie. I am glad that I was able to watch this film on TCM for free! The plot is set nine years after the events of 2001 where a joint U.S. and Soviet mission to restore HAL 9000. Douglas Rain and Keir Dullea reprise their roles as HAL 9000 and Dave Bowman.
Although we see a different HAL. This movie brought tears to my eyes because I really like how both U.S. and Soviet astronauts work together despite of their political differences back home. This is a better perspective from the movie Red Dawn.
