Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Larissa P — 26 Jan 2015
I'm one suspicious to say so, because Kubrick is my all-time favorite director, but this movie is one I can say changed my life. Not that it's my favorite movie ever, but everything about it is genius, the filmmaking, the special effects, the story and eeriness of it, but especially the ending, it poses a question to us and pushes us to another level, a level which most movies don't, which is not giving easy answers to the "mystery", in order for us to think for ourselves, once in a lifetime.
That just makes it even grander, the fact that there is no shortcut to understanding what happens, because anything might have happened, that is the true magic of cinema, in my opinion. Kubrick is a master.
