Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Johnny K — 21 May 2015
This film stimulated me intellectually, and I felt legitimately mind-blown. I appreciate the ambiguity of the film, and there are many memorable scenes in each act. The acting was quite great, and Douglas Rain gives hands-down the greatest voiceover performance ever.
The visuals hold up very well, and I loved the usage of classical arrangements. This has surpassed The Lord of the Rings trilogy as my favorite film, and from seeing it once I knew I had to see the rest of Kubrick's finest work.
This film was a great place to start. Verdict: A+.
