Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Konrad P — 23 Sep 2017
Everything regarding the production of this film is amazing: direction, photography, score, production design, special effects. It has the best of the best and it is amazing to see it all confluate in this wonderful film.
It has some of the most breathtakingly beautiful shots and scenes in the history of cinema. And, although I didn't understand everything perfectly (I mean, who has?), I still loved the story and the reflections it made regarding humans, evolution and the machines.
Special mention to the AMAZING character that is HAL 9000. I now undestand why this is one of the most influential pieces of art ever made. This movie is complex, gorgeous and smart, and it not only confirms that Stanley Kubrick is one of the best movie directors the world has ever seen, but it also allows to marvel at everything that can be achieved through the art of cinema.
