Review of 20,000 Days on Earth (2014) by Peter F — 17 Sep 2014
A semi-documentary that presents itself through a narrative lens, and what a better way to dissect the raconteur that is Nick Cave. Rather than be hagiographic, 20,000 Days on Earth presents it's subject as nothing more than a man, albeit a very inquisitive one.
Shot with plenty of revealing close-ups though, the film certainly understands that this man's art is certainly cinematic, but to a degree of restraint that only allows Cave to appear as larger than life in select moments.
Already-fans will get more out of this film than new-comers, but even the uninitiated should find plenty to admire in this unique and dedicated film.
