Review of 20 Feet from Stardom (2013) by Marco F — 17 Aug 2013
You know- I like the fact that I now know who did the background singing on the Rolling Stone's GIMME SHELTER. The film is in some ways insightful, and it's happy and uplifiting- but it's so shallow and so unambitious in its scope that I just can't recommend it.
It has a realistic attitude about success, but there isn't much told about that- the film would have been a lot better if that was included. The film has a lot going for it- but I won't remember it anytime soon; but if I do come across it again maybe I'll appreciate it more in advanced age.
