The beauty about this movie is the use of child actors not as a gimmick or a ploy to purposelessly pull at the heart strings but who are treated as adults. Two nonprofessional girls (who are not rela life sisters) brilliantly handle the theme of abandonment by not only showing us their pain but by making the audience feel how they have to adapt, cope and depend on each other.

Its also remarkable achievement the film doesn't resort to any overbearing manipulation but by quietly and slowly showing the children's intimate moments. With that said, this movie is painfully slow and there are a lot of quiet non-verbal actions, which can either hender or help this film.

It basically depends on the individual. Either way, So Yong Kim has a real gift for putting children at ease before the camera, and her two very young actresses reward her with performances of heartbreaking realism.
