Review of The Magdalene Sisters (2002) by Paula J — 06 Oct 2007
It used to creep me out that it's been less than a century since women were considered 'persons' under the law in Canada, but then apparently in Ireland it's been way less and in the Catholic Church it simply hasn't happened.
The events depicted in this movie would be the last nail in the coffin of the myth that the Catholic Church is a force for moral superiority, if the weight of its own history weren't enough to pin it shut.
This movie is disturbing and enraging, and should be seen by everyone.
