Review of Harakiri (1962) by Christopher J — 22 Oct 2007
One of my favorite classic samurai movies. An amazing piece of work (and dammit, I forgot to look for it on Flixster when I saw it months ago!) and blows most emotional dramas out of the water. THIS is how you do serious, tragic, realistic stories about real people.
Not some overburdened with message story. This is bonafide, beautiful, sorrowful, and intense. You feel the rage and the righteousness of it along with the lead. Incredible piece of work for any fan of Samurai or Asian cinema!
