Review of Harakiri (1962) by Benjamin W — 03 Aug 2012
Such an incredible movie! Groundbreaking story! Next to Seven Samurai, this perhaps is one of the best samurai movie there is. It takes a single idea or tradition of harakiri to question the morality and honor code of the bushido against the feudal system leading it to hypocrisy.
Aside from being a samurai film, this perhaps is the best revenge story I've seen. It didn't use mere violence to take vengeance rather uses the bushido to hit it where it hurts the most. What can I say, I can keep on rambling all day of how good it is.
