Review of Hail Mary (1985) by Paul P — 28 Jan 2010
The relationship between Mary and Joseph was interesting and had some heart to it, but the rest of it was cold, incomprehensible claptrap. I had to watch a couple of scenes again to figure out what was going on.
And I still don't know who Binoche was supposed to be. Or why the music kept cutting out. Or what the hell people were talking about half the time. A lot of the dialogue in sounded like pseudo-intellectual non-sequitur to me.
Worst of all, Godard isn't having any fun with it.
