Down By Law is a film that gave off a mood I had never witnessed before in cinema at the time: paradise; true paradise, and the quiet sadness when paradise has left you. Jim Jarmusch managed to make a superbly human film by doing things such as casting non-cinematic artists, so they could really express their own feelings rather than the characters, applying simple but beautiful cinematography that feels incredibly natural, and building the story around the characters rather than vice versa.

This is a film anyone can feel or relate to if you try hard enough, and you'll want to watch it again and again, until you can literally play the movie in your head. The ultimate buddy movie.
