Review of Down by Law (1986) by Tyler Y — 29 Dec 2012
This is a very minimalist film, and it works so well because of it. The choice to film in black and white and slow camerawork makes for interesting shots of New Orleans and the Bayou, and the movie's often use of small, somewhat secluded venues for the characters increases feelings of comradery -- not that it needed any help; the three leads work off of each other wonderfully.
The movie is also aided by the slow pace and fitting soundtrack as well.
