Review of Cemetery Junction (2010) by Jacky L — 05 Dec 2010
Ignore the mean spirited reviews of this movie that try to reduce it to a '70's coming of age' film. that kind of reduction misses the point completely. this film is just a fantastically interesting story whose characters, both major and minor, change through the course of the film, making the watching of it a very worthwhile and enjoyable trip.
it kept unfolding in the most unexpected ways with likable and memorable central characters, hilarious minor characters (including gervais)and an excellent script that feels authentic and intelligent.
I put it in the class of "Billy Elliot" and "City Island." my family, including my 16-year-old daughter loved this film. afterward, my daughter turned to me and said she only wanted to see "good" films from now on.
I informed her, with a small smile, that that was pretty much impossible.
