Review of And Soon the Darkness (1970) by Patrick D — 05 May 2009
I caught this because I heard they are remaking it (of course). Right in line with the kind of film Hitchcock would have made. However, I'm pretty sure that Hitchcock would have peppered his version with characters that were a bit more interesting. The film is 94 minutes long and could have told its story fully in 25 minutes. The rest is endless shots of grassy highways and deserted towns. I liked that there were no subtitles...it added to the overall feeling of frustration the lead gal faces.
It's worth a look for one truly creepy scene...and for a soundtrack that is straight out of The Partridge Family.
