Review of And Soon the Darkness (1970) by David M — 10 Aug 2009
This is a superbly subtle and effective thriller. Two young girls biking through pastoral France on holiday. When her friend goes missing, the remaining girl (Franklin) begins an investigation around her strange and hostile environment.
It features a lean cast of only seven characters. Slow pacing that is now to be cherished, excellent performances, realistic scenarios. The dizzying sun-drenched French countryside only contributes to the atmosphere of alienation.
