Klaus Kinski's performance is absolutely heart-breaking and occasionally horrifying. Herzog didn't do much direction with this film, and it is a bit obvious, but I think the film didn't need much intervention.
The talent of the cast and crew speaks for itself in this oft-forgotten gem.
