Review of The Lady (2011) by Eric G — 20 Jan 2012
Another biography of a strong woman, after the Iron Lady comes The Lady, the story of Aung San Suu Kyi, winner of the Nobel prize for Peace and the key figure of the Burmese resistance. Luc Besson, not used to biographies, adopts a traditional narrative.
The film is informational, the photography is beautiful and Michelle Yeoh gives a very strong performance, but overall it fails to generate emotions, despite the extraordinary life of this woman. Worth watching on DVD.
