Review of Oliver! (1968) by Hugo F — 30 Dec 2007
The perfect casting of Wild and Lester. Lester is gullible and Wild is unaware of his own powers of manipulation. Nancy is a dream and a tragic character. Fagin is diabolical and lovable. And Reed is completely Sikes, evil and demonic.
Its got to be the best version of the story set to a superb musical score that captures the desolation and loneliness of being impoverished in industrial London.
