Review of Horrors of Spider Island (1960) by Veronica M — 18 Jul 2007
"You know, I was wondering if there was a point to this movie. Now I'm wondering if there's a point to ANYTHING!". A truly accurate assessment of this movie by the "Mystery Science Theater" gang as after a laborously long setup where a bunch of showgirls and their agent get stranded on an island, the guy gets bitten by a spider and mutates into a spider-esque monster.
He then stays off-screen for over HALF AN HOUR as the movie decides it would rather focus on the girls and their random flirtations with two other guys who happen upon the island. Well, if you're looking to see lots of bikini-clad women instead of actual horror or spiders, then I guess this is the movie for you.
Complimented by a jazz score that's probably the least appropriate horror movie music ever.
