Review of Dick Tracy (1990) by Matt W — 08 Feb 2008
This movie isn't "deep" or anything, but it's brilliantly done. Sucessfully translates the grim surroundings and ultra violence of the vintage comic strip. The film is also a smooth transition from page to screen. That is all that I can personally ask for in a comic adaptation movie. It's quite ridiculous to comb comic book/fantasy escapism for realism like many people attempt to do. But then again art imitates life and perhaps the chord that the original strip struck with people was that it portrayed at least a parody of what the readers of the strip.
had to deal with in 1930s gangland.
