Review of Contempt (1963) by Daniel M — 07 Jul 2007
One of my three favorite Godard films (the others being Weekend and the infrequently seen, "Numero Deux"). It's fairly easily accessible, well, for Godard anyway. If you watch this and hate it, there's very little chance of you liking any other Godard other than Alphaville maybe.
This is probably Godard's most humorous movie with frequent jabs at cinemascope and the culture industry in general. Many layers of simultaneous reading make this a treat for fans of the cinema.
