Review of Contempt (1963) by Jonathan P — 22 Jul 2008
Perfection. Everything, every single thing about this film is handled with incredible grace and exhilarating creativity. At least twenty years ahead of its time, Godard's clever, nostalgic fusion between a complex, Brechtian narrative and a postmodern version of a classic story results in a film that deserves almost every superlative ever conceived: Anyone who ever found intelligent cinema even remotely interesting must watch it.
Godard, cinema's greatest visionary, at his very finest, and in my opinion, undoubtedly the greatest film ever made. Every intellectual post-Godard director owes his career to this work. The film of the forever.
Forever Godard.
