Review of Contempt (1963) by Hasan C — 14 Aug 2012
Good-looking film: Delerue's evocative music, Casa Malaparte, Brigitte Bardot's ass, the ever-saturated Technicolor, lush cinematography, gorgeous composition, pensive camera.
Very accessible considering Godard's usual approach. Fritz Lang is a plus, (exaggerated) dictator American producer is too. The way which characters overtly parallel Ulysses and Penelope, coupled with dramatic scripts, surrenders Godard's typical complexity for aggrandized poetic mood.
