Review of Brick Lane (2007) by Sanna E — 22 Nov 2007
Following the trials & tribulations of coming to the UK as a result of an arranged marriage, the lead character yearns for her homeland. At first closed off to the new world around her, this Bangladeshi village girl slowly adapts to her new life in London's East End.
But this is ultimately a love story. Or should I say, a discovery of the nature of "true love". Also central to the film is the often used message of "Home is where the heart is". A sincerely portrayed and well executed translation from the pages of this best-seller.
