Review of Woodstock (1970) by Matthew L — 20 Apr 2008
Ok, ha ha hippy, whatever.
This movie is amazing. I was genuinely moved after this viewing. You can see, as the 1st day progresses, and it slowly dawns on everyone just HOW MANY people are actually showing up, that the people who made this happen - and I don't mean just the promoters, but the stage hands, the bands, the 'security' - begin to have this look in their eye as if they are looking at the face of God. They truly seem to be ushering the Age of Aquarius.
I wish there was more music, even the director's cut is woefully short considering there is supposedly 300 hours of film, but even so, the spirit of the even comes through.
