Review of Udta Punjab (2016) by Yash B — 23 May 2018
Loved the movie, it covers an important subject that of Drug Abuse, it doesn't glorify it and gives us a realistic take on the subject while being entertaining at the same time. It's got the full range of emotions in its runtime, from some shocking and informative revelation at the start, to chilling and helpless sequence, the movie ends on some charming and hopeful moments for a positive future.
The plot revolves around the drug scene in Punjab and how it's destroying the youth, the hands of politician and police go hand in hand in promoting this cancer. We see the world from the points of view of an addict rock star, a naïve labour girl and a corrupt police officer, each undergoing life changes and walking the path to amends.
Superb casting and performance, awesome direction, a must watch movie.
