Review of Udta Punjab (2016) by Maeyank S — 18 Jun 2016
After all the hue and cry it made Udta Punjab turned out to be an average movie which otherwise could have been great had Abhishek Chaubey put a slight more effort in the casting of the film which is uneven and a slightly weak screenplay.
The movie sketches the dark side of punjab perfectly with diljit dosanjh giving a larger than life performance. kareena kapoor is fine and shahid kapoor maintains the beauty of his character throughout .
Alia bhatt's role as a bihari girl comes as a disappointment as she has no breathe in her character. the excessive use of punjabi words hurt as well to non punjabi speakers. The movie has its pace and intensity but it is never carried throughout.
It can only be said that with the subject the movie had it to be best hindi cinema but turns out to be an average movie.
