Review of Udta Punjab (2016) by Vikram S — 18 Jun 2016
Gave into all the hype and decided to check it out. It's half-brilliant and half-retarded. Imo, they should have deleted the side-stories of both Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhat as it just kept distracting from the more interesting "crime investigation" angle of the main plot (which is the half-brilliant part).
Would have narrowed down the focus and reduced the run-time (it's inexcusably long) However, phenomenal performances from everyone not named Kareena and props to the movie for highlighting a social issue even though it's nowhere as good as people say it is.
Now allow me to take shelter before people accuse me of being a Hollywood cocksucker.
