Review of The Scent of Rain & Lightning (2018) by Nadjib R — 24 Feb 2018
The Scent of Rain & Lightning is a very well made film with a powerful story to back it up, in this murder mystery thriller we have a little bit of everything, from the love story to family bonding, the brilliance of this narrative is the breathtaking acting and the rendition of the intricate characters which gives this film a twist from the usual unfoldings of its genre, one thing that sticks out is how perfectly sequenced the film is, the cuts between the flashbacks and the present were so seamless and effoertless and at time I had a hard time telling them apart.
The slow-burning build-up pays off as toward the end we're rewarded with an amazing escalation of events that's both pleasing and impressive.
The Scent of Rain & Lightning balances its characters and its story and ultimately that's the reason for its success.
